Why do I need a Notary Public?

A Notary is often required to:

  • Certify copies of documents that need to be relied on in other countries

  • Attend to the witnessing of signatures for documents to be relied on in other countries

  • Signature verification

  • The taking of affidavits/affirmations or oaths required in other countries

Cost

The cost is dependent upon the complexity of what is required and will typically start at $95 plus GST. To save time and cost we suggest you email david.foster@cmlaw.co.nz:

  • The document to be notarised

  • Correspondence from the person/organisation that requires the notarisation


You will need to bring to your appointment:

  • All relevant documents

  • The original/s of your identification document/s. Such identity documents required will be preferably your current passport however an NZ Drivers licence may be acceptable.

Apostille or Authentication

If you require, we can at a further cost organise this for you through the Department of Internal Affairs.
