On Thursday 24th of August, some of our staff spent the workday volunteering in Omakau. The sun was shining, and it was great to be outside for the day.
The purpose of the day was to provide environmental education to Omakau Primary School. Almost 80 students attended where they learned about the native flora and fauna of a farm wetland. The children explored the water clarity, learned about biodiversity of the wetland and even got to take water samples to see what was living in the water. Our staff then assisted the children with planting natives.
Our staff thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The children were receptive and we learned lots by working alongside them. It was great to connect with nature and the future generation of Aotearoa New Zealand.
We would like to take this time to thank Anna and Ben Gillespie (Two Farmers Farming), Omakau School, Otago Regional Council, NZ Landcare Trust, OCC - Otago Catchment Community Inc, Enviroschools Otago and Thomsons Project for their time and efforts.
Checketts McKay Law are proud to be your local supporters.
