Aaron Dykes is a Senior Associate at Checketts McKay Law and an integral member of the firm’s property development and subdivision team, as well as the firm’s commercial law team. He advises developers, landowners and business owners across Central Otago on a wide range of property and commercial matters.

Aaron plays a key role in the firm’s subdivision and property development projects, working alongside the property development and subdivision team on complex land developments across the region. His work includes advising on due diligence for development land, reviewing planning and consent documentation, structuring development transactions and preparing easements, covenants and other land interests required for subdivision delivery. He works closely with Director Fraser Sinclair on complex subdivision and land development projects across Central Otago.

Alongside development work, Aaron advises clients on commercial and rural property transactions, leasing arrangements and business acquisitions. He regularly assists business owners and investors with commercial contracts, property investments and land transactions across the horticulture, farming, retail, hospitality and leisure sectors.

Aaron is known for his calm and considered approach to transactions. His attention to detail and clear communication ensure that even complex projects progress smoothly for his clients.

Aaron also has particular experience advising on easements, land covenants and access arrangements, as well as preparing detailed due diligence reports for property and development transactions.

In addition to his legal work, Aaron contributes to the firm’s technology and development initiatives, helping improve internal systems and workflows to deliver efficient legal services.

Aaron is actively involved in the Central Otago community and currently serves as President of the Alexandra United Football Club. He is also a committee member of the New Zealand Law Society National New Lawyers Group.
